DUES AND FUNDRAISING

Though the emphasis of the program is on spending time, not money, certain financial obligations occur annually. These obligations include insurance coverage for the organization, putting on an annual awards banquet, subsidizing monthly Nation activities, securing locations for our campouts, and the cost for printing and mailing a monthly newsletter. Occasionally extraordinary expenses occur (new headbands, shirts, etc.). A combination of dues and fundraising activities are utilized to cover these expenses. Ideally, dues are kept at a nominal amount for two purposes. First, we want to ensure that financial means do not preclude participation in the program. Second, fundraising activities, which bring in the majority of the money required, can be selected based on the projected financial requirements from the annual planning meeting.

FUNDRAISING

During the past few years the Nation has successfully held Silent Auction Fundraisers to generate the necessary funds the organization needs to operate. In prior years fundraising events included candy sales, art auctions, car washes, and yard sales. These events provide an opportunity to not only offset higher dues, but also to promote interaction among members of the program.

In previous years, fundraising events were held in the fall and spring. The number of events may vary each year based on the projected financial needs required to support that year's activities. The success of these fundraisers is directly correlated to the participation by the members. All members are strongly encouraged to participate to ensure both solvency for the program and to enhance the rewarding experience this program fosters for father and daughter. New fundraising ideas are always welcomed and members are encouraged to participate on the Fundraising Committee.
